The event, which funds the majority  of Jameson Humane’s annual operating costs, raised $2.2 million dollars (a WineaPAWlooza record!), $450,000 of which for their Fund-A-Need, which allows Jameson Humane to offer game-changing solutions to the community’s most pressing needs, such as their newly launched  Animal Assisted Healing Program (which works to address the mental health crisis, specifically those suffering from domestic violence abuse, trauma, anxiety, dementia, and depression); and their burgeoning  Vet Mobile Program (which offers access to affordable veterinary care for low-income humans and their animals).

The 2022 iteration of WineaPAWlooza expanded upon the organization’s mission to improve animal welfare through global collaboration and education for the benefit of all life. A panel bringing together leaders in the food and wine industries to discuss innovation, behavior, and action-oriented change to our food systems, including wine—for the health of animals, humans, and the planet—took place on the evening of Friday, June 24 atop Pritchard Hill at Montagna Estate. Amanda McCrossin of SommVivant, and Brian Cooley of CNET, co-moderated the panel which included Carlo Mondavi of RAEN Winery and Monarch Tractor, Christopher Jackson of Jackson Family Wines, Molly Sheppard of Spottswoode Winery, Chef Tamearra Dyson of Souley Vegan, Erin Gort of Miyoko’s Creamery, and Maia Keerie of the Good Food Institute, plus a Q&A with noted model and activist, Christie Brinkley, and WineaPAWlooza Co-Chair, Vanessa Conlin, MW. The conversation vividly illuminated where wine and animal welfare intersect, and helped to offer solutions for the planet, by way of thought-provoking questions and conversation. The cuisine was curated by Little Saint, a Healdsburg plant-based restaurant overseen by Chef Kyle Connaughton of three Michelin-star SingleThread.

The Grand Tasting, Animal Parade, & Wine Auction with Celebrity Guest, Christie Brinkley, was held on Saturday June 25 at the famed Beckstoffer Farm Center. The Grand Tasting showcased handcrafted wines from 60 of the “who’s who” of Napa and Sonoma Valley’s vinous glitterati (Participating Vintners here), plus special guest, Christie Brinkley, who showcased her vegan, organically grown, Bellissima Prosecco & Wines. The legendary Animal Parade was led by Grand Marshal, Rick Hayes of Napa Hanlees Subaru, and celebrity wine auctioneer and personality, Fritz Hatton, followed by a delectable plant-based menu designed and executed by Deborah Blum, Operating Partner of San Francisco plant-based restaurant Wildseed and Founder of Goatlandia Farm Animal Sanctuary. The evening culminated in a Jameson Humane Lifetime Philanthropic Achievement Award presented to Andy & Betty Beckstoffer by Tor Kenward – a tribute to the benevolence and generosity of Andy & Betty for the many community nonprofits they support – and the much-anticipated live auction of 21 spectacular lots, featuring cult wines, one-of-a-kind experiences, and trips to global wine destinations.

Top winning lots included: Tor’s Cut of Beckstoffer To Kalon a 10-case lot of 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon at $200K, the largest winning bid on a single lot in WineaPAWlooza’s history; A Barrel of Bevan – 25 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Phelan Vineyard, garnered $80K doubled to $160K; Tusk and the Masters a 4 night stay in Augusta for four, with lodging, TUSK wine and a hosted dinner which went for $100K.

ABOUT JAMESON HUMANE
Jameson Humane is an impact-driven nonprofit organization that collaborates and educates to inspire change in animal welfare, not only in local communities, but around the world. Monica and David Stevens founded Jameson Humane in 2014 as a 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit to improve animal welfare through global collaboration and education for the benefit of all life. The organization was named in memory of the Stevens’ beloved dog Jameson, an adopted Great Pyrenees who lived to the age of 14 and inspired the spirit and mission.

Jameson Humane operates multiple solutions-based programs to create a truly unique animal welfare organization that is unlike any other animal rescue or sanctuary for the benefit of the greater community and its animals. Every day, Jameson’s work is guided by how animals, the environment, and the community are all inextricably connected.

ABOUT WINEAPAWLOOZA
WineaPAWlooza is Jameson’s annual fundraiser, an event that has earned its place as one of the top ten wine events in the country according to Wine Spectator magazine. The money raised from this sought-after event supplies the critical funds necessary for Jameson’s programs to improve the state of animal welfare and save animals’ lives. Because of WineaPAWlooza, Jameson has been able to help thousands of animals and their humans in our community, and beyond, through vital programs that work across the inextricable web between animal welfare, our community, and the environment. This year’s event will help ensure these programs thrive as we continue to effect real change.
