Vidon Vineyard Invites Community to Celebrate Tiquette Bramlett’s First Anniversary and Announce Inaugural Bipoc Interns for Our Legacy Harvested

Vidon Celebratory Party with Live Music, Ezell’s Famous Chicken, Salt & Straw, Wine and BIPOC Vendors on Saturday, May 7 benefiting Our Legacy Harvested

NEWBERG, Ore. (April 25, 2022) – Vidon Vineyard will celebrate an incredible first year of leadership from President Tiquette Bramlett with a special day of tastings, music, celebrations, vendors and the announcement of the inaugural interns for Our Legacy Harvested, a nonprofit founded by Bramlett bringing BIPOC diversity to the wine industry, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 7.

Vidon encourages the community to join in the celebration at its tasting room, raising a glass for the first class of interns for Our Legacy Harvested, who will advance their knowledge and expertise in the local wine community. Meet the inaugural local interns. Live music will be provided by award-winning group, Soul Cookin’, and bites will be available from Ezell’s Famous Chicken and Salt & Straw. BIPOC vendors will be on-site to showcase a variety of products for sale, including Third Eye Books, Mister OK Essentials, Divine Artworks, Tle. Xochit and more. Tickets to the celebration are available here, with a percentage of each ticket benefitting Our Legacy Harvested student scholarship fund.

The winery, located in the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley in the Chehalem Mountains AVA, will honor the successes of the past year, including appointing Bramlett as the first Black woman to oversee a winery in the country. What a year!  Bramlett’s contributions to the industry and community have been recognized locally and nationally. In June 2021, Bramlett was included in Portland Business Journal’s “30 new Portland-area executives you should know” list. In August 2021, Bramlett was named one of Wine Enthusiast’s 40 under 40 Tastemakers 2021. In 2022, Bramlett was named one of Imbibe Magazine’s “Imbibe 75 Person to Watch,” SIP Magazine’s “Best of the Northwest Industry Influencer,” Portland Business Journal’s “16 Portland business movers and shakers we’re watching in 2022”, The Manual’s “The Most Influential Black Voices in Wine” and the Portland Business Journal Class of 2022 40 Under 40.

Throughout the past year the Vidon team has completed its first harvest season and hosted a variety of events, including a popular “Raising the Temp!” Oregon Tempranillo festival in October, which brought together 12 Oregon wineries. Vidon’s new wine club offers three customizable memberships, with more information available at https://vidonvineyard.com/wine-club/.

Our Legacy Harvested was founded in 2020 by Bramlett, working with BIPOC individuals at any career level to advance knowledge and expertise in the wine community. The funds raised for Our Legacy Harvested support its long-term goal to build a campus to host pop-up events, fundraisers, dinners, educational seminars, and to foster the growing and evolving BIPOC wine community. Our Legacy Harvested will launch its first internships in Fall 2022.

ABOUT VIDON VINEYARD

Vidon Vineyard brings a delightfully unconventional approach to everything it does: a bold mission to make the wine community a more welcoming and diverse place, its unique Chehalem Mountain vineyard varietals, the unconstrained yet balanced estate wines, and hillside tasting room which offers a first-hand look at the winemaking action. The Vidon philosophy is sustainable and minimalist. Both the vineyard and winery are certified under the LIVE (Low Input Viticulture and Enology) program and Salmon Safe, and every step in the process is done gently, mostly by hand. Founded in 1999 by Don and Vicki Hagge with a commitment to intentionally unconventional winemaking, Vidon Vineyard uses a traditional hands-off approach, allowing the unique microexpressions of the vineyard to come through in the final vintage. Lured into the winegrowing business by the Willamette Valley wine community’s commitment to sharing, kinship, teaching and quality, in November 2020, Erin and Dru Allen purchased Vidon Vineyard. Drawn to the Vineyard’s stunning wines and breathtaking views, they knew they had found the perfect place to facilitate their dream. Vidon’s current head winemaker is Dr. David Bellows, a former yeast biologist who also made the 2017 and 2018 vintages. The Allens hired Tiquette Bramlett in spring of 2021 as President to oversee the vineyard’s operations and ensure every aspect advances Vidon’s mission of responsibly growing diversity, inclusivity, and community through wine. Vidon Vineyard is located at 17425 NE Hillside Dr in Newberg, OR, and is open for indoor and outdoor tastings by appointment only. To schedule a reservation, call 503-538-4092.
