Livermore Valley Hosts 13th Annual Barrel Tasting Weekend March 19-20, 2022

Featuring More Than 25 Participating Wineries

Livermore Valley, CA (February 15, 2022) – On March 19 & 20, Livermore Valley Wine Country will host its 13th annual Barrel Tasting Weekend from noon to 4:30 p.m. Attendees will be able to meet winemakers and sample wines still in development right out of the barrel from more than 25 wineries. More than a dozen varietals, including Sangiovese, Barbera, Petite Sirah, and ever-popular Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, will be available for tasting across Livermore Valley. Some wineries will offer the unique opportunity to pre-purchase barrel wines at a discount, a practice known as buying “futures.”

Special Activities

Many locations will host live bands and DJs, plus feature artisan vendors and interactive experiences such as McGrail Vineyards’ aroma bar, a beekeeping demonstration at el Sol Winery, and the “Makers Movement” with 15+ local craft makers at Retzlaff Winery. There will be bottle discounts and food for purchase from area eateries such as One Squared BBQ, Papa’s Dumplings, and Ominous Burgers.

Champagne Brunch

On Saturday, March 19 at 11 a.m., Garré Vineyard & Winery will kick off Barrel Tasting Weekend with a delicious champagne brunch. The sumptuous buffet includes an assortment of pastries and fruit, plus made-to-order omelets, eggs benedict, chicken marsala, and more. The cost is $125 per person (includes access to Barrel Tasting Weekend).

Transportation Packages

Several transportation options for small and large groups are available through Livermore Wine Trolley, Black Tie Transportation, and Extraordinary Tour Services. For those who prefer to travel by bike, Pedego is offering a special electric cycling package.

Tickets

Barrel Tasting Weekend tickets are $60 in advance via LVwine.org (“day of” tickets are $75 and can purchased at any of the participating wineries). Tickets are valid for both days. Participants will receive a wristband and a commemorative Livermore Valley Wine Country glass. Wineries are also open for general tasting during Barrel Tasting Weekend.
