The First Winery In Over A Decade To Break Into The Top 5

Napa, CA, August 02, 2021 – Delicato Family Wines announced today the completion of the acquisition of the Francis Ford Coppola wine portfolio and two facilities anchored in Sonoma County, the Francis Ford Coppola Winery and the Virginia Dare Winery located in Geyserville, including the Archimedes Vineyard. The transaction was approved by the Federal Trade Commission on June 26th, 2021.

Looking back through the history of Delicato, it is marked by strategic moves to take advantage of changing markets, investments ahead of the growth, and continuous improvement.  All these actions have delivered over a decade of double-digit growth – building a foundation for today’s milestone.

These impressive results continue to propel Delicato as one of the fastest growing Top 10 suppliers, as we become the #5 supplier of all wine above $11 in the U.S. market and the #5 supplier by volume across all price segments.[i] Together with Delicato’s existing business and Coppola’s complementary portfolio, the acquisition strengthens Delicato’s capabilities to meet consumers’ demands and compete more effectively in the global marketplace.

Chris Indelicato, Chief Executive Officer, noted, “Today marks a historical milestone for the company as we welcome the Francis Ford Coppola Winery and their brands under the Delicato portfolio. As the winery has accelerated growth over the last five years, today earmarks the continuation of our family’s work and the culmination of a shared vision to lead the industry.”

Underpinning the acquisition is 250+ employees who will join Delicato’s family-driven culture and rich heritage of hard work and high-quality standards. “On behalf of the Indelicato Family and everyone at Delicato, we are thrilled to have them be part of the family business and cannot wait to see how they contribute to the continued success of Delicato Family Wines,” concludes Chris Indelicato. “The fundamentals of our business remain strong, our employee culture is thriving, and we are committed to our proven strategy focused on long-term, profitable, and sustainable growth.”
