NAPA, CALIFORNIA – September 10, 2020 – Unwritten Wines, a producer of premium Napa Valley wines, released their new vintage, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, and announced the launch of their wine club, The Unwritten Club, today.
“The 2017 is a consummate example of a young, fresh Cabernet Sauvignon, that is accessible and enjoyable now but has the density and complexity to evolve into a truly epic wine”, says Mark Porembski, winemaker for Unwritten. This marks the fourth vintage produced by Unwritten, which was founded in 2014. Since that time they’ve been working with Lewelling Ranch to source fruit from this historic vineyard, and as of 2017, they’ve sourced a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon from an iconic vineyard in Oakville that has been known as the source to some of Napa’s most exquisite Cabernet Sauvignons.
Tasting Notes – At 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2017’s nose is flush with earthy and warm floral notes of clove, sandalwood, and baking spice. It covers your palate with red and black fruits and is awash with the succulent flavors of black cherry, creme de cassis and plum compote. Gorgeous, taut tannins give the wine definition and weight, elongating its already lengthy finish. Bold and lush now, the wine’s taut tannin structure ensures that this wine will age beautifully, evolving into a more subtle and nuanced experience.

- Aged for 25 months in 70% new French Oak Barrels (Darnajou and Taransaud)
