Farm Bureau Board of Directors Votes to Endorse HR 5038
Napa, CA—The Napa County Farm Bureau Board of Directors has unanimously voted to endorse US House Resolution 5038, the Farm Workforce Modernization Act. This bill would improve the existing H-2A agricultural visa program and would allow immigrant agricultural employees already in the United States to earn legal status through continued agricultural employment.
“We have long sought reforms and improvements to immigration laws affecting agricultural employees. We believe that this new legislative proposal contains many of the elements needed to enact meaningful reform”, said Johnnie White, President of the Napa County Farm Bureau.
“As we approach Thanksgiving, this is one of the most meaningful ways we can acknowledge the contribution that agricultural employees make to Napa County by supporting federal legislation that deals fairly with immigrant employees and their families”, said Ryan Klobas, Chief Executive Officer of the Napa County Farm Bureau.
The Napa County Farm Bureau will now actively advocate for the passage of HR 5038 and urges Speaker Pelosi to bring the Farm Workforce Modernization Act to a vote as soon as possible.
