Niles, IL – May 15th, 2019 – Summertime is the right time for Torrontés. Winesellers, Ltd., the family-owned, global importer and marketer of fine wines, will debut the new Torrontés del Mercado 1-Liter — developed for Whole Foods Market, from Argentine eco-friendly producer Bodega Santa Julia.

The Torrontes del Mercado will be available during the summer months alongside the current Malbec del Mercado nationwide at Whole Foods Market.

“Just as Malbec is the main red grape variety associated with Argentina, Torrontes is the main white grape variety associated with Argentina,” said Winesellers, Ltd. Co-President Adam Sager. “Torrontes has similar aromatics to Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat and Gewurztraminer. New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc sales have been growing double digits the last few years, so we hope consumers will try something similar but new, Torrontes, and get just as attached.”

Torrontés is the aromatic grape native to Argentina and makes for the perfect summer white. Made in a dry style, Torrontés del Mercado has a vibrant nose of rose, orange peel, white peach, chamomile and herbal notes and yet finishes in a fresh, light-bodied style with flavors of grapefruit and stone fruits such as peach and pear. It has moderate-to-high acidity making it a thirst quencher as well as an ideal pairing for spice-infused food, seafood or chicken dishes. Simply put, it’s the kind of wine that might make your eyes sparkle and mouth beg for one more sip, and then one more.

The attractive price point ($13.99) and 1-Liter packaging makes the Torrontés del Mercado an ideal choice for summer’s favorite moments – backyard soirées, afternoon picnics, impromptu BBQs, boating days, pool parties or simply a sipper for two on the patio. Whole Foods Market love the wine so much they bought the whole batch.

The Mercado line is part of the Santa Julia portfolio, in which all wines are organically or sustainably produced in the Uco Valley of Mendoza, Argentina.

“I love to be present in Whole Foods Market with this wine”, said Julia Zuccardi. “Torrontes del Mercado is a great accompaniment for any simple & fresh food and a wine I like to share with my friends & family in Mendoza. It really represents the true philosophy that Santa Julia has been pushing for many years: producing great quality and value wines that work to contribute to the community of which we are part off”.

Founded in early 1990s, Santa Julia is one of the emblematic Argentine wine brands, both in Argentina and around the world. José Zuccardi created the brand in honor of his daughter, Julia, who is now a third-generation winemaker with the winery. Santa Julia is a combination of the quality and diversity of the Mendoza land, which produces modern wines. Santa Julia produces a diverse range of grape varieties. The classics include Malbec, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, but also other rather unique varieties such as Viognier, Pinot Grigio and Tempranillo.  Bodega Santa Julia is committed to being natural, environmentally friendly, and growing in harmony with the community. The long-term sustainability of harvests is extremely important, and Santa Julia fosters the natural richness of the soil through certified organic vineyard management.

Starting in May, the wine will be available at Whole Foods Market locations nationwide.
