(Sonoma County – CALIF.) – Founded by the Murray Family from New Orleans, Flambeaux Wine makes hand-crafted, limited-production wines that capture the essence of the Flambeaux Dry Creek Valley Estate Vineyard, as well as other world-class Sonoma County vineyards.

Flambeaux is a family-owned winery that prides itself on making wines that are both complex for experienced wine tasters while being equally approachable for someone new to wine. With wines having been released only in the last two years, this year marks the first time that a full range of varietals are available to the winery’s fast-growing consumer following.

“The Flambeaux are the dancing torchbearers of New Orleans Carnival during Mardi Gras, representing tradition, light, dance and joy. We named Flambeaux after these torchbearers as they are a historic symbol of my family’s hometown of New Orleans,” said Art Murray, who co-founded the winery with his parents Steve and Pattie Murray, his wife Nicole Murray and daughters Alys, Elizabeth, Nia and Lila Murray.

At Flambeaux, Winemaker Ryan Prichard (who makes wine at Three Sticks, and has also worked at Williams Selyem, Copain Custom Crush and Medlock Ames) employs the Murray family’s philosophy of allowing the grapes to evolve and naturally grow into what they become.

Without intervention, the resulting fruit ends up as the best of itself. This minimalist approach results in intriguing and exciting wines. The winery currently produces Flambeaux Dry Creek Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Flambeaux Dry Creek Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Flambeaux Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Flambeaux Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel, Flambeaux Sonoma Coast Chardonnay and Flambeaux Sonoma County Rosé.

The Flambeaux Dry Creek Valley Estate Vineyard is distinctive as it is situated 400 feet above the floor of the Dry Creek Valley. A steep, hillside location rare for this lesser-known appellation, as well as mineral-rich soils, provide the perfect terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon.

Prichard makes the Flambeaux wines at Grand Cru Custom Crush a world-class wine production and tasting showcase facility located minutes away from the Flambeaux Estate in the heart of Sonoma Wine Country in Windsor, California. Tastings by appointment are available at Grand Cru and often hosted by Flambeaux vintner Art Murray.
