BALTIMORE, MD – More than two dozen Maryland wineries return to Columbia’s Symphony Woods for the 27th annual Wine in the Woods festival. Attracting thousands of attendees each year, Wine in the Woods is considered the “Best Festival in Howard County.” This two-day event takes place on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19, 2019.

Established in 1992, Wine in the Woods is Howard County’s premier wine event. Presented by Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks, in partnership with the Maryland Wineries Association, this annual festival has grown from nearly 7,5000 daily attendees in the late-1990s to an anticipated attendance of more than 20,000 people this year.

“Howard County created this festival to assist the Maryland businesses (wineries) while creating a fun weekend for adults in the area,” says Phil Bryan, Superintendent of Recreation Services.  The event is well attended with an average of 20,000 attendees each year.  In addition to award-winning local wineries, the fair provides booths with local craftsman, festival food, and wonderful live music (6 musical acts per day).

About the Maryland Wineries Association. The Maryland Wineries Association (MWA), formed in 1984, is the non-profit trade association representing nearly 90 member wineries in Maryland. MWA’s mission is to develop and expand the grape and wine industry in Maryland through education and promotion.
