The Stags Leap District Winegrowers Celebrates 30 Years with a Weekend of Conviviality and VIP Access to the Appellation’s Wineries and Vintners

The 30th Anniversary Celebration at Vineyard to Vintner takes place April 26-28, 2019 in the Napa Valley

Stags Leap District, Napa, CA, February 11, 2019 – Marking 30 years since the founding of the American Viticultural Area (AVA), the Stags Leap District Winegrowers today announced the schedule of events for its 30th Anniversary Celebration weekend affair, to be held Friday through Sunday, April 26 to 28, 2019. Rare library selections, decadent meals, in-depth education and exclusive vintner access will be the highlight as wine enthusiasts explore the region with the winemakers and principals who craft the wines from vineyard to bottle. Tickets for the event, which are expected to sell out and limited to 200 guests, will be available online beginning Thursday, February 14 at 9:00 a.m. PST.

“This will be a weekend to remember as we commemorate 30 years of our storied history, world class wines, talented vintners, and unparalleled hospitality,” said Nancy Bialek, Executive Director of Stags Leap District Winegrowers. “Guests will have the chance to not only taste a breadth of vintages and wines throughout the weekend, but also dig deep into the appellation’s history, terroir and meet the vintners and owners who are committed to the highest quality wines. For cabernet aficionados, it’s a remarkable weekend that can’t be missed.”

Recognized as a formal AVA in 1989, the Stags Leap District is home to world-renowned Cabernet Sauvignon, with a winegrowing history dating back to the 1800s. Bordered by the Vaca Mountains on the East and the Napa River on the West, the District was the first in the United States to be approved based on the distinctiveness of its soils. Under the towering Palisades, guests at the 2019 30th Anniversary Celebration weekend are invited to savor the history and explore the future of this incomparable area.

In honor of the milestone, Stags Leap District Winegrowers will donate $50 of each ticket purchased to the University of California at Davis Nathan Fay Graduate Fellowship Fund. The endowment was established by the Stags Leap District Winegrowers in 2000 as a tribute to District pioneer Nathan Fay, who planted the first Cabernet vines in the region in 1961. The coveted scholarship is awarded each year to one graduate student in the School of Enology and Viticulture.

Representing the region at various events are: Baldacci Family Vineyards, Chimney Rock Winery, Cliff Lede Vineyards, Clos Du Val, Ilsley Vineyards, Lindstrom Wines, Malk Family Vineyards, Odette Estate, Pine Ridge Vineyards, Quixote Winery, Regusci Winery, Shafer Vineyards, Silverado Vineyards, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, Stags’ Leap Winery, Steltzner Vineyards, and Taylor Family Vineyards.
