The Geneva-based fine wines auction house Baghera/wines sets a record year and strengthens its position as European market leader, concluding the 2018 auction season with an impressive CHF 46,5 million and 98,9% of lots sold over the year.

BREAKING RECORDS AND SETTING NEW STANDARDS — AN EXCEPTIONAL YEAR

In June, the “Henri Jayer, The Heritage” auction featuring 855 bottles and 209 magnums originating from Henri Jayer’s personal cellar went under the hammer and realized an impressive record amount of CHF 34,5 million. This now historical sale sets up a new reference standard for all rare wine auctions, surpassing all precedent records and making it the biggest wine auction in the world, ever.

In December, the unique auction “Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, The Secret cellar of a European collector” – a remarkable private collection of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti wines, composed of over 1500 bottles, magnums and jeroboams, reached CHF 11,6 million. This sale, dedicated solely to wines of the Domaine, has become the second biggest wine auction held in Europe, just behind the Jayer auction, and can be added to the list of events which will remain amongst the references of fine wine auctions. With 2 record sales and 2 successful “wine o’clock” auctions, 2018 marks the strengthening of Baghera/ wines’ position as a major player in the world of fine wine auctioneering and confirms their position as European leader with a turnover of CHF 46,5 million and 98,9% of lots sold over the year.
