Lompoc, CA (November 29, 2018) – Flying Goat is hosting an artist reception for Katie Marie Artistry on Saturday, December 8, from 2-4pm. Katie’s exquisite paintings make a great holiday gift and have been selling off the walls. You may recognize Katie at the reception because she has been a part-time Flying Goat tasting room associate for the past few years. All are invited to come by and enjoy her work over wine and cheese.
Katie Bradbury Alva has been drawing, painting and dabbling in photography since she was 6 years old. After moving to California in 2009, she started surfing and became a Diamond Member with the Salt Water Divas. While connecting with the beauty of the ocean and becoming friends with such influential women, she wanted to start accomplishing more in her life. People have always told her, “I wish you’d do something with your art. You’re so talented, don’t waste it.” So after a couple of very difficult years and getting motivation from her beau, Katie started to pursue her artistic vision.
In this collection, “a lot of my designs are a reflection of the ebb and flow of the sea (and life), sometimes calm and beautiful, but sometimes harsh and dark. Some are just fun colorful experiments that went well,” says Katie. Katie commissions private art pieces, including portraiture drawings, pet portraits and paintings. She also teaches Canvas & Cocktails at Vandenberg AFB and offers private home painting parties as well.
Most of Katie’s free time is spent with her beau and his two children. They enjoy surfing, beach days, hiking, skateboarding, having back yard fires and exploring the local food scene. Travel is an important aspect of their life as well, frequenting Lake Tahoe, Oregon and finding hidden gems here in the Central Coast. When asked what is in store for her future, Katie says she hopes to open an art studio of her own where she can support and promote local artist like herself.
