Gilroy, CA – Jason-Stephens Winery celebrates 10 years of producing exceptional, elegant wines in the Santa Clara Valley. Winemaker and owner, Jason Goelz, first opened the tasting room door to Jason-Stephens in October 2008. His goal has always been to create balanced wines that capture the essence of the varietals’ characteristics while maintaining structured, bold flavors and seamless textures. When Jason first opened, he rapidly gained popularity within the local community through his Summer Friday night concert series. In these past 10 years, Jason has grown his brand nationally and is currently distributed in over 30 states. “It has been a great start and at times, a strange ride for the last 10 years. I’m looking forward to the next 10 years and what it has in store for me, as well as continuing to follow my passion for making wine,” states Jason. Jason will be celebrating his 10th Anniversary on Saturday, October 13, 2018 with a food truck and live music (featuring Max Cabello Jr.) from Noon-6PM.

Jason’s passion for winemaking originated during his college days at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. After receiving one of the minors in Wine and Viticulture from Cal Poly SLO, Jason had a dream of entering the wine industry. After college, he worked in the corporate/tech world, but continued building on his dreams by making wine in his friend’s basement. After making a major career change and taking some risks, he eventually achieved his goal and opened Jason-Stephens Winery. Jason built the winery to include cutting edge equipment of the time to create premium quality wines. He draws on his own experiences and years of winemaking to showcase the fruit itself – capturing and developing the flavors inherent to each varietal. In this past decade, Jason-Stephens Winery has been featured in multiple articles and won numerous wine awards. Most recently, Jason-Stephens Winery was awards 94 points for the 2014 Merlot, 93 points for the 2014 Malbec and 90 points for the 2014 Cabernet Franc from Tastings.com.

In 2016, Jason-Stephens Winery moved to The Stomping Ground, a new concept emerging in Gilroy, CA. Jason and his wife, Janu Goelz, in partnership with Tim Slater (Sarah’s Vineyard), purchased a vacant industrial property in South Gilroy, just off Highway 101. They named it “The Stomping Ground” and immediately began transforming it into an artisan winemaking facility. The 7-acre property will be transformed into the ultimate food and wine destination. Long-term plans for the property include having on-site restaurants by award winning chefs, multiple tasting rooms from talented winemakers, along with an entire host of community events. Jason-Stephens Winery was the first to open a tasting room on The Stomping Ground. Now, within the last year, 3 new wineries have opened on the property – Alara Cellars, J Winston Winery and Calerrain Wines. To learn more about Jason-Stephens Winery, please visit www.jstephens.com. Jason-Stephens Winery is open daily 11AM-6PM at 6500 Brem Ln. Gilroy, CA.
