New York, NY, 10/8/2018: Champagne Bruno Paillard, one of the Champagne’s few independent, family-owned maisons, is proud to introduce Champagne Dosage : Zéro MV (multi-vintage). The new champagne, with a suggested retail price of $65, marks the first addition to the house’s tightly focused portfolio in a long time. Alice Paillard and her father, Champagne Bruno Paillard namesake and founder Bruno Paillard, worked together on this project for the past 10 years and the wine is now brought to market by Alice, who took over day-to-day management in 2017 from her father.

To offer a “driest-of-the-dry” is a natural addition for a prestigious small Champagne house whose style has traditionally been identified with dryer, longer matured, fresh and lively champagnes. The house has waited until now to present a non-dosage champagne to ensure that all details are exceptional.

To achieve complexity, flavor and a pleasing texture, Champagne Bruno Paillard concentrates on three vital steps — conducting the first fermentation in barrel for some of the wines and making “reserve wines” (some of which age over 10 years on the lees) account for half of the multi-vintage blend. The third step concerns aging of the final blend: it is three to four years — more than double the legal requirement — followed by six months rest following disgorgement. The back label states the disgorgement date — a practice Bruno Paillard pioneered in Champagne, starting in 1983. Fruit is specifically chosen from 30 top crus for suitability to make a brut nature wine. The grapes are all chosen for their chalky subsoil origin. The blend highlights the fruity, softer Pinot Meunier from the first few kilometers on the right bank of the Marne Valley, balanced by one-third each Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the northern slopes of the Montagne de Reims.

Bruno Paillard Dosage: Zéro MV starts shipping from the winery in October 2018, and will be available in all states in which Bruno Paillard wines are currently sold.

Champagne native Bruno Paillard started out with no land, stock, capital or grapes – just a fund of knowledge and 50,000 francs after trading in his vintage Jaguar. His motive: a desire to make the kind of champagne he enjoys drinking. His daughter Alice Paillard now runs the House, including 79 acres, almost half of which are Grand Cru, accounting for over 70% of production, a very high percentage. Call it a “small great house” or a “BIG small producer,” Maison Bruno Paillard blends the best of models, creating elegant, pure, dry, and longer-matured champagnes prized by connoisseurs around the world.
