LIVERMORE, Calif. – August 14, 2018 – Cupcake Vineyards, a top premium wine brand[1], announced today the release of the 2016 Cupcake Vineyards Winemaker’s Blend Chardonnay, a small-batch limited production offering sourced from two select vineyards in the esteemed appellation of Monterey.

Cupcake Vineyards Winemaker’s Blend joins a portfolio with two other outstanding examples of this varietal: Cupcake Vineyards Monterey County Chardonnay and Cupcake Vineyards Butterkissed Chardonnay. Cupcake Butterkissed Chardonnay launched earlier this year as a creamy, buttery, full-bodied take on this classic varietal to meet consumer demand for this taste profile. The brand has also seen remarkable success with the Cupcake Monterey County Chardonnay, as it is the fastest growing of the top 10 Chardonnays in its price point[2] and the #2 SKU[3] in the Cupcake portfolio.

Winemaker Jessica Tomei has been living in Monterey County over the last few years, during which she has continued to perfect the Cupcake Vineyards Chardonnay. During this time period, she’s fallen in love with two particular vineyards in the area, McCoy and San Lucas, that make up the backbone of the Monterey County Chardonnay and are both located in the Monterey AVA. Tomei has selected from her favorite lots of these two esteemed vineyards to craft the newly released ultra-premium Cupcake Vineyards Winemaker’s Blend Chardonnay. This passion project began four years ago and she is finally releasing her hard work. To craft this new ultra-premium wine, Tomei employs a hands-on technique during malolactic fermentation, stirring the wine two times per week. She then ages the wine in French and American oak barrels for nine months, creating a well-balanced wine with a creamy mouthfeel.

“This elegant, delicate take on a classic varietal showcases the distinct style of the acclaimed Monterey AVA, where these grapes were sourced and also where I call home,” said Jessica Tomei, Winemaker at Cupcake Vineyards. “I’m proud of the Chardonnay portfolio that we have built at Cupcake Vineyards and I’m especially excited to share this Winemaker’s Blend with those looking for a bottle of something extra special.”

The 2016 Cupcake Vineyards Winemaker’s Blend Chardonnay displays elegant notes of ripe pear, crisp apple, and bright citrus, complemented by delicate hints of vanilla and crème brûlée.  This limited production wine has a suggested retail price $24.99.
