Baghera/wines concluded the « Henri Jayer, The Heritage – The ultimate sale from the private cellar of Domaine Henri Jayer » sale featuring 855 bottles and 209 magnums originating from Henri Jayer’s personal cellar on the impressive record amount of CHF 34,5 million.

This historical record sets up a new reference standard for all rare wine auctions, surpassing all precedent records and making it the biggest wine auction in the world, ever.

These unparalleled results confirm Henri Jayer as one of the iconic winemakers of Burgundy, reinforcing his legendary legacy to the world of wine collectors. The fervor for this unique event signed a well-deserved success for Baghera/wines, the young and dynamic auction house with one of the most experienced expert teams in the industry.

Overflowing auction room to honor the memory of Henri Jayer

This Sunday June 17th afternoon, the auction room established at Domaine de Châteauvieux (Satigny, Geneva) was full of amateurs, collectors and lovers of the finest burgundies. Their unique objective: to conquer the last 1064 bottles of Domaine Henri Jayer. In a magnetic atmosphere, charged with excitement, the 215 lots featured in the catalogue of this historical sale took off to the sound of the hammer, masterfully held for over 6 hours by Michael Ganne, Executive Director of Baghera/wines. Each of the lots was the subject of fierce bidding battles.

CHF 34,5 millions for the precious nectars of the Master of pinot noir

Fans and collectors of high end wines from all over the word answered the invitation to participate in this unique sale, whether in the room, on the phone or on the internet. The bidders, who were around 100 in all, came from all over the world (Asia, America, Europe) to experience and live this unique moment of wine auctioning.

The “Henri Jayer, the Heritage” sale closed with a turnover of CHF 34,5 million setting a new record for wine auctions.

Twelve years after his death (in 2006), the wines signed by the famous burgundy winemaker unquestionably remain the most expensive ones in the world.

With this new record turnover, Baghera/wines confirms its position as a leading auction house in the international wines market.
