Napa Valley, California – May 8, 2018 – Perched from 1000 feet up on the Howell Mountain hillside, Burgess Cellars puts visitors in the best seat in the house with its Mountainside Tasting.  This experience immerses guests in the story of this 45-year old family owned mountain winery, while enjoying the panoramic view.

The “Mountainside Tasting” is a seated elevated experience in the “Mountainside Tasting Room” which has expansive views of upper Napa Valley.  This expands the winery’s offering now to two tasting experiences.  The other experience, “Tasting in the Cellar” takes place in an active barrel cellar where founder and pioneer of mountainside wineries, Tom Burgess, first started hosting early Napa Valley visitors decades ago.

The Mountainside Tasting is part of a renaissance at Burgess Cellars that has been taking place since 2013.  In that year, the second generation, Steven and James Burgess, took over the winery from their father, and invited head winemaker, Kelly Woods, to join and revolutionize Burgess Cellars winemaking.

The Mountainside Tasting shares wines from 2013, the first vintage under Kelly Woods’ direction.   These selections are entirely estate, mountain wines, a terroir representing only 4% of Napa Valley acreage.  The tasting also features library wines from the Burgess Cellars Library Program, which spans four and half decades and is one of the most comprehensive in Napa Valley.  Most Napa Valley visitors never have such access to historic Napa vintages.

Guests in the Mountainside Tasting look onto the estate’s Winery Ranch Vineyard, a historic vineyard that dates to the late 1800s.  Knowledgeable wine educators share the early Napa Valley and Howell Mountain history, as well as the family’s 45-year history at the hillside winery and modern renaissance.

The “Mountainside Tasting” is offered daily at 10am and 2pm, for $60 per guest.  The “Tasting in the Cellar” is offered daily at 10am, 11:30am, 1pm, 2:30pm, for $30 per guest.  Both experiences are by appointment only which can be made online or by phone.  Phone: 707-963-4766.  Web: burgesscellars.com.
