Grand Tasting Kicks off IRONMAN Race Weekend Festivities in Santa Rosa

SANTA ROSA, CA—Russian River Valley Winegrowers (RRVW), the non-profit association of growers and vintners in Russian River Valley, announced plans to host Single Vineyard Night on Thursday, May 10th from 5:30pm to 8:30pm at the Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine Country in Santa Rosa. In the lead-up to the triathlon in Santa Rosa, Single Vineyard Night will host athletes, their families and wine connoisseurs from around the world to experience single-source wines from the iconic Russian River Valley appellation.

“Santa Rosa is already buzzing with activity in preparation for the race,” said Wendy Hilberman, Executive Director of Russian River Valley Winegrowers. “We are thrilled to welcome athletes and their families to the region and showcase the best of Russian River Valley wines at Single Vineyard Night. Wine is a huge part of the culture here, and we hope this event really solidifies their Wine Country experience.”

Single Vineyard Night focuses exclusively on small-lot wines made to express the “terroir”—or sense of place—of their vineyard sources in Russian River Valley. Over thirty wineries will pour their limited-production single vineyard wines from the Russian River Valley, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. In addition to the exceptional wines, the number of Russian River Valley winemakers, vineyard and winery owners in attendance makes this event an intimate and one-of-a-kind experience.

“Single Vineyard Night is special because you get to taste rare Russian River Valley wines that are not available in distribution,” said Giovanni Balistreri, President of the Board and Winemaker at Russian River Vineyards.  “With over 30 fantastic wineries participating, you’re guaranteed to discover a vineyard or winery to fall in love with– and there’s a very good chance you will get to meet the people who made it!”

This event is open to the public, and a limited number of VIP tickets are available. VIP access includes entry one hour early beginning at 5:30pm, the chance to meet the winemaker and receive exclusive tastings of rare, limited release and tasting room wines only wines.
