Sonoma, California | April 18, 2018: WINE WOMEN has put out a call for volunteers. The professional trade organization, championing women working in the wine industry, has grown tremendously in nearly two years. The newly launched Volunteer Program will provide needed infrastructure and support for the fast-growing organization.

President, Christine L. Mueller, explained, “Thanks to the support of our members, Wine Women has grown faster than anticipated. We’re entering a growth spurt as we head into our third year of operation and have reached capacity with our current structure. The volunteer program is an opportunity for members to participate, expand their individual networks and hone their leadership skills while contributing to the growth of their organization. This next growth phase includes career development seminars, scholarships, training programs, new forums and additional programs. With a volunteer team to execute these programs, we can grow and give back to the industry on a larger scale.”

Mueller clarified further, “We’re heavily involved in strategic planning to get us to the next level, and, in addition to the volunteer program, we’re focusing on succession planning and adding a full-time staff to manage the organization’s programs. We’re looking forward to working with a team of volunteers to help us organize and execute events, meetings, fundraisers and so on, to achieve those goals.” She elaborated: “We’re starting with a search to fill vacating or new board positions (Events, Vice President). At the same time, we’re seeking member managers, marketing and event committee positions. As these positions are filled, we’ll announce new openings in areas such as finance, technology, and other roles. Plus the volunteer service can be a path to greater exposure, such as joining the board of directors.”

Marcia Macomber, Marketing Director, went on to explain the organization’s recruitment strategy: “Our website’s volunteer page provides a list and descriptions of different volunteer projects and jobs. With one click, members can apply for multiple projects and positions. We divvied up jobs and projects into smaller, do-able tasks so that when many volunteers accept the workload, it won’t seem like a job but more of a fun activity to do with friends.”

Ms. Macomber continued to map out the overall strategy: “Our objective is to make membership much more valuable to our members by offering greater participation opportunities. These activities will strengthen relationships and contribute to achieving the organization’s goals. By giving these volunteer members more opportunities to lead and participate in running our organization and events, they’ll be ready and excited to take the reins down the road.”
