Earth Day Event showcases sustainability and floral artistry
Sonoma, CA (April 3, 2018) —Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards will be a feast for the senses on Earth Day as it’s transformed with an irresistible array of colorful floral and green art for the third annual Bubbles & Blooms Festival. This year’s event will provide Earth Day inspiration by putting you face-to-face with experts on rose care, floral arranging and container gardening; make you think outrageously differently about fashion with unique creations from the upcoming 8th annual Trashion Fashion Show; and tickle your taste buds with an array of bites paired with Gloria Ferrer’s award-winning wines.
Scheduled for Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the winery in Sonoma, general admission tickets cost $90 and include food, wine tokens, speaker presentations on the main stage and floral displays. Lectures on the Main Stage
- Caring for the Easy Rose Garden with Barbara Ellis of Redwood Empire Rose Society (12:15 p.m.)
- How to Plant a Thriving Cut Flower Garden with Lennie Larkin of B-Sidefarm (1:30 p.m.)
- Containers as Garden Art with Deborah Thomas of Sonoma Mission Gardens (2:45 p.m.)
DIY Floral Workshops
For an additional cost, guests may also participate in hands-on floral workshops. Workshops are $25 each and cost includes all materials. Space is limited and advance purchase is recommended. VIP Bubble Passholders may participate in one complimentary workshop at no additional cost. Workshops include:
- Spring Wreath with Stephanie Hughes of the Little Petunia (12:30 p.m.)
Using dried botanical elements grown by Bay Area farmers, students will be guided through creating their own colorful 12-inch spring wreath.
- Spring Arrangements with April Neubold of Petalworks (1:45 p.m.)
Locally sourced spring blooms with be available for you to create a floral arrangement that can be presented as a gift or place in a vase.
- Succulents Terrarium with Brandi Chalder of Flourish Home & Garden (3:00 p.m.)
Pick from a huge selection of succulents and make your very own terrarium, with plenty of demonstrations and hands-on help along the way.
Wine, Food & Shopping
Once again the historic winery caves will be transformed into an indoor floral market where guests can browse and purchase unique arrangements and plants while enjoying Gloria Ferrer’s award-winning sparkling and still wines accompanied by delicious local cuisine from Chef Beth Sogaard. A myriad of pairings will be available such as Smoked Salmon Crostini with Gloria Ferrer Blanc de Noirs; Lavender Crusted Duck Confit Coins with Sonoma Brut as well as a live Pork Belly “Bao” Taco Station with 2008 Gloria Ferrer Royal Cuvée. Grab and go items such as Crazy Good Truffle Potato Chips & Gorgonzola Dip and Hummus and Famous Potato Chips will also be available.
As a special treat, the winery will also be releasing the 2017 Gloria Ferrer Estate Pinot Blanc at the event. Hand harvested from the best estate vines and 100 percent stainless steel fermented, this Pinot Blanc is delicate and crisp with bright fruit flavors that compliment a wide array of cuisine. Perfect during the warm spring and hot summer months.
