NAPA VALLEY, Calif. – December 7, 2017 – Duckhorn Wine Company will today be donating more than $300,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County, exceeding its original goal of raising $250,000 to support families displaced by the October fires in wine country. The company began fundraising to support Habitat for Humanity’s home-building efforts in Sonoma County, Napa Valley and Mendocino County immediately after the fires. To achieve its goal, Duckhorn donated 100% of the wine tasting fees from its three Northern California visitor centers—Duckhorn Vineyards and Paraduxx in Napa Valley, and Goldeneye in Anderson Valley—for all of October and November. These fundraising efforts were further augmented by generous contributions from employees and customers, as well as from the founders of its parent company, TSG Consumer Partners. Through its partnership with Habitat for Humanity, Duckhorn Wine Company has earmarked all of the funds to go directly to rebuilding efforts for low- to moderate-income families who lost their homes.

“Even before the fires, housing was the single-most critical need in our community,” said Duckhorn Wine Company President and CEO Alex Ryan. “Now with more than 6,000 homes lost throughout wine country, this need is more urgent than ever before. We wanted to make a real difference in the lives of those most affected by the fires while also addressing the important issue of affordable housing so we set a lofty fundraising goal. The response has been overwhelming, and thanks to the kindness and generosity of so many, we far surpassed that goal.”

“In the aftermath of the fires, it is paramount that we prioritize rebuilding housing for low- to moderate-income families who have lost their homes,” said John Kennedy, board chair for Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County. “In the face of the devastation, it has been inspiring to see the strength and resiliency of our wonderful community. Thanks to the crucial support of companies like Duckhorn, we can continue our mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.”

In addition to today’s donation, Duckhorn plans to continue its partnership with Habitat for Humanity into the future, including mobilizing employees to help with Habitat for Humanity building projects throughout wine country.
