Napa, CA (November 29, 2017) – This morning Napa Valley Grapegrowers (NVG) hosted its first annual Erosion Control Community Fair at the Napa Valley Expo. The fair provided all Napa County residents and business owners with complimentary supplies and expert advice on how to prepare properties for winter rains. Additionally, these efforts will help to further protect water quality from damages resulting from the recent wildfires.
“As growers and practitioners of best practice, NVG leaders developed this event to share what we know with landowners throughout the county who have an interest in protecting our hillsides, creeks, and landscapes after the devastating fires. We are fortunate to have such strong, well-informed partners like those here today sharing supplies and information,” said Jennifer Putnam, CEO and Executive Director of the Napa Valley Grapegrowers.
Attendees experienced overwhelming support from the thirteen community organizations that provided free materials, such as straw wattles, mulch, gloves, tarps, and resource guides. After learning about the Erosion Control Community Fair through local newspapers, electronic newsletters, and social media outlets, attendees came early and prepared – with trucks or SUVs to load up with supplies.
Through thoughtful preparedness, the Napa County community is working collaboratively toward ensuring the recovery and safety of our region post-fires, and with this, the long-term vision of environmental stewardship.
