Healdsburg, Calif. (November 21, 2017) – A Gary Farrell Winery Chardonnay has been named the top wine for 2017 by Wine Enthusiast Magazine. The Enthusiast 100 of 2017 was just announced and included the Gary Farrell Winery 2015 Russian River Selection Chardonnay in the number one position.
“We are incredibly humbled to have our Chardonnay selected by Wine Enthusiast Magazine as the #1 wine for 2017,” said Theresa Heredia, winemaker for Gary Farrell Winery. “Our Russian River Selection is a symphony of vineyards in the Russian River Valley, and we are grateful to these fine growers for their dedication to quality. Their hard work affords us the opportunity to make beautiful, refined wines. We very much appreciate the recognition from Wine Enthusiast.”
The Gary Farrell 2015 Russian River Selection Chardonnay was the first white wine selected number one in the Wine Enthusiast top 100 list in over 10 years. The magazine noted, “For its display of excellent quality, competitive pricing and wide availability – a veritable triple threat – the Gary Farrell 2015 Russian River Selection Chardonnay could not be overlooked as the top wine this year.”
Gary Farrell Winery was founded in 1982 by Gary Farrell, who was a pioneer in the Russian River Valley wine region. For more than 30 years, Gary Farrell Winery has crafted small-lot artisan wines that capture the balance and stylistic elegance of some of the finest vineyard sites in the region. Farrell sold the winery in 2004, and today winemaker Theresa Heredia is nurturing Gary Farrell’s legacy of producing small lots of Burgundian-styled, varietally expressive and regionally distinctive Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
