New York City eateries pair best burgers with Napa wines, Oct. 20 – November 5

NEW YORK, September 25, 2017 – More than 25 New York area restaurant locations will participate in this year’s Somms and Sliders Napa Valley wine program. Organized by the Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) nonprofit association, Somms and Sliders runs October 20 through November 5, 2017.

Somms and Sliders brings together Napa Valley wines and burger pairings at top fine dining and high-end casual restaurants, steakhouses, wine bars and craft burger chains around New York. At each restaurant, the sommelier will select a Napa Valley wine to pair with a gourmet burger recipe that highlights the wine’s unique character.

The NVV is teaming up with sommeliers and chefs from some of New York’s finest eateries, including Charlie Palmer Group and TAO Group, to create the ultimate burger pairing experience for food and wine lovers. The list of participating restaurants includes:

  • 21 Club
  • Aureole New York by Charlie Palmer
  • Bedford & Co
  • Bowery Meat Company
  • Charlie Palmer Steak New York City
  • City Winery
  • City Vineyard at Pier 26
  • Corkbuzz Restaurant & Wine Bar
  • Crimson & Rye
  • Emmy Squared
  • Harold’s Meat + Three
  • Morrell Wine Bar & Café
  • Murray’s Cheese Bar
  • Schnippers (4 locations)
  • The Stanton Social
  • The Lambs Club
  • The Smith (4 locations)
  • Tribeca Grill

Somms and Sliders allows both wine and culinary experts to let their creativity shine by creating unique wine and burger pairings that New Yorkers may not have tried before. Some sommeliers have selected the region’s renowned Cabernet Sauvignon for their pairing, while others are turning to unexpected Napa Valley varieties, like Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

“At Charlie Palmer Steak, we are choosing to highlight what the region does really well: big, bold wine,” explains Lead Sommelier Amanda Streibel of Charlie Palmer Steak. “The burger is such an iconic American dish that it only makes sense for drinkers to have that same experience with iconic American wine.”

“This is our third year participating in Somms and Sliders,” said Wine Director Julien Moreno of Bowery Meat Company. “This year, we want patrons to use the program as a trampoline to open their mind to new wine producers that they are not familiar with and at the same time help the development of smaller producers.”
