Vinventions’ PlantCorc closures report strong growth momentum based on H1 2017 sales

ZEBULON, NC, USA, and THIMISTER, Belgium (Sept. 19, 2017) — Mid-year 2017 reporting shows: The way the wine industry is closing and protecting its wines is evolving at a rapid pace. As of this year, the fastest-growing wine closure category is now PlantCorc™, sustainably-made plant-based closures. The most well-known within the category are the Nomacorc Green Line closures by Vinventions, the global leader in Complete Wine Closure Solutions.

“The extraordinary innovation work of Vinventions has created an entirely new wine closure category: PlantCorc,” says Dr. Heino Freudenberg, President and CEO of Vinventions. “PlantCorc closures currently outgrow all other wine closure categories—including screwcaps and cork-based closures—in terms of absolute growth in units. The success of the category is broadly based in both popular and premium wines, and increasingly experiencing strong growth with luxury wines in Burgundy, Alsace, Provence, Rhône Valley, Piemonte, Tuscany, Rioja, and Galicia as well as Napa and Oregon.”

This year, PlantCorcs will add +800 million units in sales worldwide from the Nomacorc Green Line alone, making it the fastest-growing wine closure category worldwide. Spearheading this tremendous growth are the sustainably-made, zero-carbon footprint Reserva and Select Green, best-inclass closures for luxury wines intended for aging, and the high-performance Zest! closure for premium sparkling wines. Nomacorc’s Classic Green and Smart Green, low-carbon footprint PlantCorcs from the Green Line, continue to be leading closure solutions in best-selling wine brands across the globe.

Vinventions will also be relaunching all Green Line products in October with a new Nomacorc identity: an updated logo designed to emphasize PlantCorc in the Vinventions family of Complete Closure Solutions.
