New website & app make planning and remembering wine tasting trips easy and fun

San Francisco, Sept 5, 2017: Wine lovers rejoice! This week marks the launch of Oenomad (pronounced ‘ēno-mad’), a digital platform that helps users plan wine tasting trips in Napa, Sonoma, and the San Francisco Bay Area (with more wine regions to follow). The company’s name is a combination of the terms “Oeno-” (Greek for ‘wine’) and “nomad” (one who wanders). Co-founded by Kelly Whiting and Emily Crichton, Oenomad allows users to search and select wineries to visit based on location, atmosphere, amenities, budget, and even grape variety. Users can then build an itinerary with the site’s trip planning tool, which considers start and end locations, tasting room hours, reservation times, driving time, and stops along the way. If plans change or the user is traveling impromptu, they can use the website or app (now available in IOS, Android coming soon) to see tasting rooms near them that are “open now” or “no reservations required”. Furthermore, Oenomad’s website and app help to capture memories and plan future trips by allowing users to upload pictures, mark their favorite destinations, leave public reviews, save private notes, as well as share trip details with friends.

“Oenomad was created out of a seemingly universal frustration that no single comprehensive, convenient, and affordable resource existed to help plan wine tasting trips.” said Emily. “The options were: a) undergo countless hours of research, b) fork out tons of money on a concierge service, or c) wing it and potentially be very disappointed.”

Kelly added, “It’s not just the trip planning, it’s remembering the details too! We all know how a day of wine tasting makes our memories a bit hazy. Oenomad solves this by letting users save their memories and share them with friends. Then when it’s time to plan the next wine tasting trip, you’ve got everything you need in one place.”

The Oenomad concept took root in 2015 and was nurtured by its co-founders, longtime San Francisco residents, and friends. A Miami native, Kelly completed her MBA at the University of Chicago and moved to California, where she built a career working in digital media. Milwaukee native and University of Wisconsin-Madison alum, Emily got bitten by the wine bug over a decade ago and turned her passion into a successful wine sales and marketing career in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. Follow Oenomad on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest for the latest updates. For Oenomad’s mobile experience, download the iOS App.
