Grown from Sonoma County Grapes, a Refreshing White Blend with a Lush Mouthfeel

SONOMA, CA, July 25, 2017—Valley of the Moon Winery at Madrone Estate announces the release of its 2015 Pinot Blanc · Viognier (PB·V), a blend of 85% Pinot Blanc and 15% Viognier. The newly-released white blend captures all of the tropical fruit characteristics of Pinot Blanc combined with the lush mouthfeel of Viognier, resulting in a brightly acidic, lightly refreshing wine with a silky texture, making it suitable to pair with a variety of robustly-flavored foods or as a stand-alone sipper.

Located in the heart of Sonoma County’s premier wine-growing region, Valley of the Moon wines are produced on the historic Madrone Estate property, one of California’s oldest wineries with vines originally planted in 1863. The 2015 PB·V was cool fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fresh wine’s aromas of honey and peaches; the wine was kept from malolactic fermentation to keep its flavors of juicy peaches and ripe pineapple vibrant on the palate.

“We are proud to have achieved something truly unique with this wine,” said Kat Doescher, the winemaker who personally crafted this small-batch wine. “There are certainly other white blends available on the market, but the combination of Pinot Blanc and Viognier achieves a light and refreshing fruit quality, with a sturdy backbone that gives it balance and structure.”

Packaged in 750-ml bottles in 12-bottle cases, the PB·V has a suggested retail price of $17.99 and is available in restaurants and at wine retailers nationwide or online at www.valleyofthemoonwinery.com.

Winemaker Kat Doescher joined Valley of the Moon Winery in 2006 as enologist and was named winemaker and head of production in 2016.  Her winemaking philosophy is focused on revealing the distinctive varietal personality of each Sonoma vineyard from which the grapes in Valley of the Moon wines are hand-selected.

Owned by the Stewart family, the Madrone Estate was purchased in 2012 and the family completed a renovation to focus on estate-driven, small lot wines from the historic property. Valley of the Moon wines honor an important 150-year era of artisan winemaking and stewardship in Sonoma County. Valley of the Moon wines are available nationally in restaurants and wine stores.

The Valley of the Moon Winery is located at 777 Madrone Road in Glen Ellen, California. For more information visit www.sfewine.com.
