Charlie Palmer’s restaurants earns distinctions in each category of this year’s awards, including the coveted Grand Award

New York, NY (July 18, 2017) — Charlie Palmer Group is proud to announce that eight of the hospitality company’s restaurants have been honored for their outstanding wine programs in Wine Spectator’s 2017 Restaurant Awards, which selects restaurants from all over the globe and distinguishes them as top destinations for wine lovers.

“Restaurants continue to raise their game when it comes to wine, and we are particularly proud to present this year’s winners,” said Marvin R. Shanken, editor & publisher, Wine Spectator. “As wine becomes more important to diners, the Awards program is thriving—with an increasing number of entries, as well as growing print, digital and social audiences. Wine Spectator congratulates each and every award winner.”

“Our team has done an outstanding job creating and evolving wine programs that are not only thoughtful and exclusive but also representative of the sommelier’s special interests and passions,” said chef and restaurateur, Charlie Palmer. “I’ve been lucky enough to have my restaurants included on this list since 2000 and we’re honored to remain in the company of such impressive wine collections.”

Wine Spectator began its program to recognize the world’s best wine lists in 1981. There are three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award—with 2,335; 1,168; and 89 winners this year in each respective category.

For the 17th year in a row, Aureole Las Vegas has received Wine Spectator’s Grand Award, which is the program’s highest honor and awarded to less than 100 restaurants worldwide, under the direction of Manalay Bay director of wine Harley Carbery. This elite group comprises the world’s best wine programs, which deliver serious breadth of top producers, outstanding depth in mature vintages, a selection of large-format bottles, excellent harmony with the menu and superior presentation. Wine Spectator carefully assesses each Grand Award candidate, including rigorous independent, on-site inspections of the wine program, cellar, service, ambiance and cuisine of the restaurant.

Five Charlie Palmer Group restaurants have earned the Best of Award of Excellence award, which recognizes recipients that offer more extensive selections with significant vintage depth and excellent breadth across multiple regions. The recognized restaurants are:

  • Aureole (since 2001)
  • Charlie Palmer Steak New York (since 2015)
  • Charlie Palmer Steak DC (since 2015)
  • Charlie Palmer Steak Las Vegas (since 2001)
  • Dry Creek Kitchen (since 2002)

Charlie Palmer Steak Reno and Harvest Table both have won the Award of Excellence, which recognizes restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style. The restaurants have been recognized on this list since 2014 and 2016, respectively.

The complete list of award winners is available in print in Wine Spectator’s August issue, on newsstands July 18, and online at Restaurants.WineSpectator.com, where visitors can search and access exclusive content on the more than 3,500 restaurants. The full list is also available for free on iOS via the Restaurant Awards app, which allows users to look for dining spots in any location with maps, choosing by wine strengths, cuisine type, pricing and more.
