Saturday, September 16, at Social Hall SF

San Francisco, Calif. – July 18, 2017 California Artisan Cheese Guild (CACG), the state’s only nonprofit dedicated to sustaining California’s artisan cheesemaking community, today announces that tickets are on sale for the Third Annual SF Cheese Fest to be held Saturday September 16, from 6 – 9pm, at the historic Social Hall SF, a renovated 1909 landmark building preserved with intimate and historic charm.

SF Cheese Fest’s theme of “Melting Together” promises a casual and delicious evening of music, mingling and munching in classic San Francisco style. “Whether it’s melted into a crêpe, scraped from warm wheels, heaped on crusty bread, or simply sliced and savored, SF Cheese Fest will celebrate the craftsmanship and unique character of California cheese,” says CACG president Tamara Hicks (Founder, Tomales Farmstead Creamery).

“Melting Together” celebrates the gratifying warmth of bringing folks together to share the richness of artisan cheeses and the people who create them. Guests will meet and mingle with 24 Guild-member cheesemakers from across the state, sampling dozens of new and classic California cheeses. Pairing with the melty fromage will be brews from local favorites Magnolia Brewing Co., Lagunitas Brewing, and Fort Point Beer. Cider lovers will enjoy pours from AppleGarden Farm, Golden State Cider and Titled Shed Cider, and wines from more than a dozen wineries, including Herb Lamb Vineyards and Belden Barns, will ensure lively pairing discoveries.

To complement the cheeses, “Melting Together” will offer inspired bites made by the Cheese School of SF/Fishers Cheese and Wine, Mission Cheese/Makers Common, Freestone Artisan Cheese, and GreenLeaf, along with tasty morsels from event sponsors Creminelli Fine Meats, Dandelion Chocolates, Lemon Bird Preserves and Mimi’s Confiture. Culture cheese magazine will offer FREE 1-year subscriptions to all attendees.

The roster of cheese companies ranges from pioneering cheesemakers Bellwether Farms, Cowgirl Creamery, Cypress Grove, Laura Chenel’s, Marin French Cheese and Point Reyes Farmstead to local favorites Achadinha Cheese, Bleating Heart, Chevoo, Moonside Creamery, Nicasio Valley Cheese and Tomales Farmstead Creamery. From the around the state, Central Coast Creamery, Fiscalini Cheese, Garden Variety Creamery, Orland Farmstead, Pedrozo Dairy & Cheese, Schoch Family Farmstead, Sierra Nevada Cheese, Stepladder Creamery and Vintage Cheese will join the festivities. This year also welcomes newcomers on the scene William Cofield Cheesemakers from Sonoma and Stuyt Dairy Farmstead from Escalon, along with Utah cousin-in-cheese, Beehive Cheese.

Tickets will be $84 each and are expected to sell out again this year. Ticket price includes entry and access to all bites, beverages and live music by colonial-indigenous-eccentric jazz quartet Rebirth Canal. Limited “Bring a Friend” tickets will be $149 for two. Tickets are now on sale through the SF Cheese Fest website www.sfcheesefest.com/tickets or at Eventbrite https://sfcheesefest2017.eventbrite.com. Social Hall SF is located at 1270 Sutter Street in San Francisco.

SF Cheese Fest is made possible by continued sponsorship from 2017 Platinum sponsor The Chefs’ Warehouse, and generous industry sponsors Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company (Gold), Bellwether Farms, Gourmet News, GreenLeaf, Mike Hudson Distributing and Qualtec (Silver). SF Cheese Fest is the primary fundraiser for the California Artisan Cheese Guild, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting artisan cheesemakers throughout the State.
