Multi-generational Chilean Winery Introduces 2012 “Family Collection” Assemblage

NEW YORK, NY (June 30, 2017)—Viña Aresti, known for its highly-awarded lineup of estate-produced wines, is expanding its U.S. portfolio with the addition of its “Family Collection” Assemblage. A blend of five varieties carefully selected from the best vineyard sites in Chile’s Curicó Valley, this bold red wine was originally made by Don Vicente Aresti (the winery’s founder) exclusively for his family. The 2012 vintage, which will be imported to the U.S. by VinAmericas, has already garnered numerous domestic and international awards—including a Gold Medal at the 2017 International Wine Challenge—and has frequently scored higher than 90 points by some of the world’s top wine critics.

“Like many famed wine producers across the globe, the Aresti family has a long history of winemaking,” remarked Matías Rivera, CEO of Aresti Chile Wine, S.A. “Since 1951, our winery has been owned and operated by the Aresti family, and our “Family Collection” is a symbol of the uncompromised values and long-standing tradition of producing quality wines that we’ve held from the beginning.”

Viña Aresti is located in the southern part of Curicó Valley, nestled between the majestic Andes and the vast Pacific Ocean. The estate measures 1,100 hectares with 350 hectares under vine, and is comprised of four vineyards, each with its own very expressive terroir. Like other regions known for their elegant and complex red wines, the valley is favored with ideal growing conditions from the combination of its soils, a long and dry season with hot days and cool nights, and natural barriers that protect the vineyards from pests and pollutants.

“We’re incredibly fortunate in Chile to have such an ideal climate and terroir for wine production,” continued Rivera. “It allows Viña Aresti to produce world-class red wines at a fraction of the price of our international competitors, offering tremendous value to our customers.”

  • Vinification: The grapes for the Family Collection are 100% hand-harvested from the best sites within the family’s estate. After fermentation, the wine is transferred to French oak barrels where it is aged for 18 months. After ageing, the final blend is clarified and bottled without filtration.
  • Composition: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 12% Syrah, 10% Petite Sirah and 8% Petit Verdot
  • Tasting notes: With an intense and deep red color, this blend is firm and dense with rich and chewy tannins. Lovely aromas of blackberries and spices paired with mocha and vanilla are expressed in the nose. Elegant and complex in its full-bodied palate, it comes together in a long and pleasant finish. A beautifully-balanced blend produced from our best vineyards and made with the careful work of our winemakers.
