SANTA ROSA, Calif. (June 21, 2017) – Tickets are now available for the two-day Sonoma County Wine Auction, presented by Visa Signature®. Savvy collectors will have the opportunity to acquire Sonoma’s elite wines and bid on once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences during Sonoma County’s largest charitable giving event Saturday, September 16, 2017 from Noon to 7 p.m. at La Crema Estate at Saralee’s Vineyard, a new hub of wine education and culinary exploration located in the heart of Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley. Jackson Family Wines Chairman & Proprietor Barbara R. Banke will serve as Honorary Chair of the 2017 Auction. The Honorary Chair is recognized as an individual who demonstrates community leadership, dedication to innovation and commitment to helping others.

The two-day event begins September 15th, with preview parties and vintners dinners, and culminates in the Sonoma County Wine Auction on September 16th.  The celebration brings together Sonoma County’s top winemakers and growers, along with some of the area’s best chefs, and has been named as one of the nation’s top five charitable wine auctions by Wine Spectator. Guests enjoy a sublime insider experience and an opportunity to give back to the local community. Produced by Sonoma County Vintners, all proceeds benefit local Sonoma County charitable partners, with an emphasis on education.  The event sponsors more non-profits than any other organization in the county.

“I am proud to be the Honorary Chair for the 2017 Sonoma County Wine Auction,” said Barbara Banke, Chairman & Proprietor of Jackson Family Wines. “We are grateful to our loyal bidders who for years have acquired the finest Sonoma County wines and enjoyed amazing culinary experiences while supporting our community non-profit partners. All of us in the Sonoma County wine community believe that by working together we can help fund the educational programs that give Sonoma County’s children a strong foundation for success.”

Beneficiaries

Since its inception, the Sonoma County Wine Auction has raised $24 million for organizations that benefit students, children, and people in need within Sonoma County. The annual celebratory event reflects the Sonoma County Vintners’ commitment to giving back and brings together the wine industry, local chefs and passionate donors to invest in vital health and human services, exceptional arts and culture, environmental preservation and critical early childhood education programs.

A particular focus of the Sonoma County Wine Auction is “Fund the Future” which supports innovative literacy programs for at-risk elementary school students, including Schools of Hope, Literacy Book Bags and Latino Family Literacy. These programs successfully engage children, promote school readiness and develop reading proficiency for children in school districts throughout the county. The AVANCE and Pasitos programs have helped hundreds of parents gain skills to be effective “first teachers” for their children, generating strong connections between families and schools. The auction also supports the Sonoma Valley Unified School District’s Summer Reading and Writing Academy, targeting elementary grade school students and helping to prevent summer learning loss and eliminate “summer slide.”

Destination

Situated atop a knoll overlooking the storied vineyard, the beautiful La Crema Estate at Saralee’s Vineyard is widely cherished in the Sonoma County community and known for producing some the finest grapes in the region.
