(June 21, 2017; Albuquerque, N.M.)—Cain Vineyard & Winery is honored to come to New Mexico this week for the 26th annual Vintage ABQ. The Opening Gala Dinner at Andaluz promises to be an unforgettable food and wine pairing with the delicate and complex red wines of Cain and the progressive Indian cuisine of ROOH, created by world famous Chef Sujan Sarkar.
Representing Cain as honorary chairs will be Wine-Grower Chris Howell, and his wife, Sales Director, Katie Lazar. “We are glad to play a role in working with Greg O’Byrne and everyone at Vintage ABQ. We know we’ll excite, and we hope to delight the food and wine lovers of Albuquerque,” says Howell. “Like flint and steel, our pairings will strike sparks on diner’s palates tonight.”
“As long-time admirers of New Mexico and its people, we were pleased and honored when Vintage Albuquerque’s Board President, Lonnie Talbert, invited Cain to participate,” says Lazar. “We can’t imagine a better occasion to come to New Mexico, than by chairing Albuquerque’s premier fine wine and food festival.”
The festivities begin on June 21 with the Opening Night Gala at Andaluz, where Chef Marc Quiñones is thrilled to welcome Chef Sujan Sarkar from San Francisco’s recently opened progressive Indian restaurant ROOH, to create a five-course dinner paired with Cain’s wines. Chef Sarkar has a background at Michelin-starred restaurants in both India and London, and was named the Times Chef of the Year in India. At ROOH he combines India’s rich traditional and regional flavors with the best local Northern California ingredients. Events continue the following day at Andaluz, when Howell will conduct a seminar on “The Taste of Terroir,” comparing Cabernet blends from Napa Valley’s mountains and benchlands through a vertical tasting of 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012 of both Cain Concept and the iconic estate-grown Cain Five. Cain will also participate in Friday’s Grand Tasting alongside several of Albuquerque’s top restaurants and over thirty wineries, as well as Saturday’s Big Event and Live Auction at the Albuquerque Country Club.
