Saturday, September 16, at Social Hall SF

San Francisco, Calif. – May 2, 2017 California Artisan Cheese Guild (CACG), the state’s only nonprofit dedicated to sustaining California’s artisan cheesemaking community, today announces the Third Annual SF Cheese Fest to be held Saturday September 16, from 6 – 9pm, at the historic Social Hall SF, a renovated 1909 landmark building preserved with intimate and historic flavor.

This year’s theme, “Melting Together” celebrates the gratifying warmth of bringing folks together to share the cheesy richness of artisan cheeses and the people who create them. Guests will meet and mingle with 22 Guild-member cheesemakers from across the state, sampling dozens of new and classic California cheeses. Pairing up with the melty fromage will be brews from local favorites Magnolia Brewing Co., Lagunitas Brewing, and Fort Point Beer. Also pouring will be cider-makers AppleGarden Farm, Golden State Cider and Titled Shed Cider, and winemakers Herb Lamb Vineyards and Belden Barns. More participating beverage producers will be announced in the coming weeks. To complement the cheeses, “Melting Together” will offer inspired bites made by the Cheese School of SF, Mission Cheese/Makers Common, Freestone Artisan Cheese, and Greenleaf, along with samples of cured meats, pickles, jams, and confections, all from local makers. Tickets will go on sale Tuesday, July 18 and are expected to sell out again this year. Tickets include entry and unlimited access to all bites and beverages, plus live music by colonial-indigenous-eccentric jazz quartet Rebirth Canal. Limited “Bring a Friend” tickets will also be available.

In a year marked by discord, SF Cheese Fest’s theme of “Melting Together” promises a casual and delicious evening of music, mingling and munching in classic San Francisco style. “Whether it’s stirred into fondue pots, melted into a crêpe, scraped from warm wheels, heaped on crusty bread, or simply sliced and savored, SF Cheese Fest will celebrate the hard work, craftsmanship and unique character of California cheese,” says CACG president Tamara Hicks (Founder of Tomales Farmstead Creamery).

The roster of cheese companies ranges from pioneering cheesemakers Bellwether Farms, Cowgirl Creamery, Cypress Grove, Laura Chenel’s, Marin French Cheese and Point Reyes Farmstead to local favorites Achadinha Cheese, Bleating Heart, Chevoo, Moonside Creamery, Nicasio Valley Cheese and Tomales Farmstead Creamery. From the around the state, Central Coast Creamery, Fiscalini Cheese, Garden Variety Creamery, Orland Farmstead, Pazzo Marco Creamery, Pedrozo Dairy & Cheese, Schoch Family Farmstead, and Stepladder Creamery will join in the festivities. Plus, this year welcomes newcomer-on-the-scene William Cofield Cheesemakers, along with Utah cousin-in-cheese, Beehive Cheese.

Social Hall SF is located at 1270 Sutter Street in San Francisco. Tickets will be $84 each and include all food and beverage sampling and live jazz. Limited “Bring a Friend” tickets will be $149 for two. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, July 18 through the SF Cheese Fest website www.sfcheesefest.com/tickets.

SF Cheese Fest is made possible by continued sponsorship from our 2017 Platinum sponsor The Chefs’ Warehouse.  SF Cheese Fest is the primary fundraiser for the California Artisan Cheese Guild, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting artisan cheesemakers throughout the State.
