RDS Invites Consumers to ‘Experience the Real Rutherford’

RUTHERFORD, CA – Rutherford Dust Society, the non-profit member association for growers and vintners in the Rutherford Appellation, has announced that tickets and passes are now on sale for the Rutherford Wine Experience happening May 19th and 20th, 2017. Now in its fourth consecutive year, the Rutherford Wine Experience offers an intimate and exclusive wine weekend designed to showcase the people, place, and craft behind Rutherford’s iconic wines.

The 2017 Rutherford Wine Experience (RWE) is comprised of three unique events over a two-day period. The event weekend will launch with an intimate VIP Welcome Reception at PEJU Winery on Friday evening from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, where 100 guests will taste an exclusive selection of Rutherford Appellation Cabernet Sauvignons with Rutherford vintners, growers, and winemakers. This elegant evening of wine and food will include pairings created by PEJU’s Chef Alex, and a painting demonstration by artist Penelope Moore who is renowned for her “palette of the palate” work.

The second RWE event is a selection of in-depth wine education seminars on Saturday morning, offered onsite at various Rutherford vineyard and winery locations during two time blocks between 9am to 12:45pm. This year’s Wine Experience seminars will be hosted by Beaulieu Vineyard, Provenance Vineyards, Honig Vineyard & Winery, Elizabeth Spencer Winery, Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard, St. Supéry Estate Vineyard and Winery, and Raymond Winery. This year’s event also includes a special “Wagdola” (wagon + gondola) vineyard tour seminar, led by former Growers of the Year Frank Leeds of Frog’s Leap and Davie Piña of Piña Vineyard Management. Space is extremely limited for all seminars.

The third and final event, billed as the “Rutherford Round-Up”, will take place Saturday afternoon at Foley Johnson Winery from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. The festive Round-Up event will include a Grand Tasting of wines from 20 Rutherford wineries against a backdrop of spectacular live entertainment. Throughout the afternoon guests will enjoy the live music of Bootleg Honey, an onsite barrel-making demonstration, and a painting demonstration by artist Penelope Moore. Wine-friendly food pairings created by local food trucks Foodie Farmhouse and French Corner will be available for purchase.

“We could not be more excited for the lineup of events for the Rutherford Wine Experience this year,” said Regina Weinstein, Director of Marketing at Honig and RDS Committee Chair of the event. “We have more wineries participating this year than we’ve ever had, and the excitement is building. We’re providing access to winemakers, growers, and vintners in a variety of different formats, so our guests will get to experience the real Rutherford — the Rutherford we all love.”

All-Inclusive Passes for the weekend are $230, with Saturday Passes priced at $150. A la carte tickets to the individual Wine Experience events are also available. Tickets and passes must be purchased in advance from the Rutherford Dust Society’s website (http://www.rutherforddust.org/wine-experience) no later than Wednesday, May 17th.
