VIP Guests to Attend New York Launch at Instituto Cervantes on March 8, featuring 1964 Faustino I Gran Reserva, a Vintage of the Century

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 7, 2017 (Oyón, Rioja Alavesa, Spain) – Bodegas Faustino, a classic Rioja winery founded over 150 years ago, is sponsoring a flamenco jazz tour with musicians Josemi Carmona and Javier Molina. The De Cerca tour – or “at a short distance” – will launch on March 8 in New York at Instituto Cervantes, the center for Spanish language and cultural studies. Additional cities will include Washington, DC, Miami, Chicago, and Boston.

Josemi Carmona on flamenco guitar is a musical legend, who has led the modern revival of flamenco together with Javier Molina on double bass. Their live performance captures a conversation in a moving dialogue that transcends time and musical languages, bridging the distance between cultural spaces. With deep flamenco echoes, Carmona and Molina present a fusion of jazz swing that ranges from gems of the Latin American songbook to the elegant compositions of Josemi Carmona. Delicate and powerful in equal parts, their astonishing discoveries in jazz and flamenco encompass exquisite nocturne melodies, stories of love and bitter truth, elements of tango, and the weeping of a flamenco farruca in homage to Astor Piazzolla.

Bodegas Faustino will match the artistry of the De Cerca tour with a tribute to the profound estate wine tradition of Rioja. Guests in New York will enjoy a private performance at the Instituto Cervantes followed by a reserve wine tasting, to include 1964 Faustino I Gran Reserva, one of the most acclaimed vintages of the past century sourced from family-owned vineyards.
