Piper-Heidsieck, the revered French Champagne House known worldwide for the red of its label and the gold of its wine, was the sole Champagne poured at last night’s Oscars and Governors Ball for the third year in a row. Over 1,400 bottles of Piper-Heidsieck were popped and more than 12,000 glasses served to Academy Award winners and revelers throughout the evening. Best Supporting Actress Viola Davis, her husband Julius Tennon and Best Actress winner Emma Stone were spotted sipping Piper-Heidsieck Champagne in the Governors Ball engraving room while waiting for their statues to be etched with their names. Nominee Dev Patel was also spotted drinking a glass of Piper while making the rounds with his mother Anita.

Guests of the 89th Annual Academy Awards celebrated the year’s best films – and gossiped about that epic mix-up – with glasses poured from bright red limited edition magnums of Piper’s iconic Cuvée Brut NV. In addition to the limited edition magnums, The House also poured bottles of its Rare Millésime 2002 cuvee and magnums of its Rare Millésime 1998 cuvee. In a fitting nod to the evening’s celebratory and history-making nature, a bottle of Piper-Heidsieck was popped every 8 seconds at the Governors Ball!
