González Byass, the leading Spanish wine and spirits producer has, once again, applied its expertise in sherry production to create a new addition to its premium spirits portfolio. In keeping with the company’s philosophy to preserve and recover traditional techniques, this renowned fifth-generation Sherry house has launched the first genuine Sherry Vermouth, La Copa (SRP:$22.99).
To create this distinctive fortified wine, González Byass recovered recipes and techniques dating back to 1896. The brand has transformed sherry into vermouth by leaving the wines to macerate with a selection of aromatic spices and botanicals: wormwood, clove, orange peel, nutmeg, angelica, quinine and savory. The result is a unique wine with the flavors and aromas of a classic Vermouth, but with the delicious undertones of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherries.
“With Vermouth consumption on the rise, we saw the opportunity to revive an original and distinctive brand,” said Nicolás Bertino, International Sales Director. “La Copa Vermouth epitomizes our company philosophy of preserving traditional and well-established aspects of our Sherry winemaking business with the new and the modern.”
