Industry leading SaaS platform widely used by European drinks trade provides standardized product details – Accurate, uniform, and updateable process enables efficient sharing between Wine, Beer & Spirits Producers, Distributors & Retailers

San Francisco, CA, February 6, 2017 – Since 2013, Bottlebooks (Munich, Germany) has been simplifying product information exchange for the drinks industry. To date, more than 5,000 wine, beer and spirits brands have exchanged product information using Bottlebooks and its Saas platform.  Customers include The London Wine Fair, Wines of South Africa, HORECA Expo in Belgium, Awin Barratt Siegel Wine Agencies and Bibendum-PLB (part of the Conviviality Group and the UK’s largest importer), thus creating the largest standardized, industry-supported platform for product data sharing.

Effective today, Firewater Partners (San Francisco) will represent Bottlebooks in the U.S. to the overall wine, beer and spirits industries, at all levels, including supplier, distributor, wholesaler and retailer, and will immediately begin implementing the Bottlebooks service across its associated events and media platform, San Francisco Vintners Market, Craft Spirits Carnival and Drink Me Magazine.

“We’re excited to team with Firewater Partners to bring Bottlebooks to the U.S.,” said Jonathan Harclerode, Bottlebooks Chief Executive Officer, “Their passion for innovation and focus on creating value for their customers, trade and consumer alike, exemplifies what Bottlebooks is about.”

Bottlebooks is the premier SaaS platform (Software as a Service) subscription-based platform, suited to all stakeholders in the global wine, beer and spirits industries, where the products (and details relating to each of them) are diverse and often changing.  Constituents include product producers,  importers, wholesalers, retailers and e-tailers, sommeliers, as well as Trade bodies and the media.

“Firewater Partners is extremely pleased to represent Bottlebooks in the U.S. market and will be their primary contact for all levels of the wine, beer and spirits, industry,” Cornelius Geary, Firewater Partners Chief Executive Officer.

In an industry where the sharing of product information is highly fragmented, Bottlebooks is a vital tool that offers these industries one place to exchange comprehensive, producer-vetted and entered product information (with 162 fields) for use across multiple departments – buying, quality control, sales, IT, logistics, sales accounts and marketing.

With data, including product information, photography, maps, all controlled by the source – the producer – the platform ensures accuracy, latest up-to-date news and one point of data entry, saving valuable time along the entire value chain.

Once the information is gathered on the Bottlebooks platform, the uses are multiple:

  • manage logistics and tax/duty information
  • manage on-line portfolios and build product lists
  • host and manage consumer and trade sampling events, including taste-driven search
  • create product information sheets
  • distribute media reviews
  • publish business and association websites
  • customer relationship management, and
  • partner newsfeed

Bottlebooks is a universal wine data solution, designed to solve inherent problems associated with information sharing in the multi-tiered wine industry, specifically addressing the following:

  • Money is wasted exchanging product data
Importers, agencies, exporters, wholesalers, retailers, and wineries may waste significant resources exchanging product information.
  • Data is incorrect or badly presented

For example, a search for a particular high quality Riesling 2014 reveals three different alcohol levels and three different bottle shots for the same product

  • Limited growth in a digital world
  • Lack of consistent and good data limits the ability of the industry to fully integrate itself, where desired, in an increasingly digital marketplace

“Wine information costs the industry 5% of top-line revenue and it’s historically difficult to get the information you need,” Mr. Harclerode said. “We look forward to enabling U.S. companies not only to achieve these savings, but to take full advantage of comprehensive, producer-supplied wine, beer and spirits information.”

“Bottlebooks brings the global wine, beer and spirits industry here in the United States an affordable, consistent and robust data sharing platform that offers the industry a centralized location for all product information,” said Mr. Geary.  “It ensures all levels of the industry have current, accurate and vetted data, and will help raise the competitive standard in our industry through new levels of accuracy and efficiency.”
