Winery to Donate $2 Per Bottle Sold in January in Honor of National Mentoring Month
Sonoma, CA (January 13, 2017) – As part of National Mentoring Month in January, Anaba Wines proprietors John and Kathleen Sweazey are again undertaking a campaign to support the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance. For the fifth year in a row, Anaba Wines will donate $2 for every bottle of wine sold in their Sonoma Valley tasting room in January to the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance.
The Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance is a school-based mentoring program in Sonoma Valley, which pairs caring adults with children in need of social or emotional support. The Sweazeys have supported the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance for many years, and five years ago they expanded that support with the $2 per bottle campaign during National Mentoring Month.
“We are celebrating 20 years of Mentoring in Sonoma Valley, and we could not do this heart work without generous individual and community support like that of John and Kathleen Sweazey of Anaba Wines,” noted Lee Morgan Brown, executive director of the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance. “To celebrate National Mentoring Month, which is January, the Sweazeys are offering a generous donation to the Mentoring Alliance for each bottle of their delicious wine that is purchased.”
“The Alliance provides an invaluable service to at-risk students in Sonoma Valley,” said John Sweazey. “We believe strongly in their mission, and we are very pleased to support the work of such an important community organization.”
John Sweazey chose the vineyard on Bonneau Road in Western Carneros in 2003, as he felt the site, with is cooling winds, was ideal for some of the varieties he had learned to love in France. He later expanded his line to include wines from other Sonoma County vineyards. The first vintage of Anaba Wines was 2006. Named for the anabatic winds that draft upward through the region, Anaba Wines was the first winery in Northern California to use wind power when Sweazey installed a 45-foot wind turbine on the property in 2009.

The Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance serves students on eight public school campuses in the Sonoma Valley Unified School District.
