Symposium offers educational sessions for both direct-to-consumer and three-tier distribution sales channels

Oregon Wine SymposiumPORTLAND – Nov. 15, 2016 – The 2017 Oregon Wine Symposium, Feb. 21-22 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, will feature two business tracks to provide learning on best practices, solutions and strategies to all attendees. Separate direct-to-consumer and distributed channel sales tracks will explore successful approaches for building winery businesses, managing and educating distributors, and increasing direct-to-consumer sales with unique tasting room experiences and digital marketing strategies.

“On the heels of two large vintages, actionable business intelligence and growth strategies have never been more important for Pacific Northwest wineries,” said David Beck, chairman of the Oregon Wine Board. “Attendees can choose from a variety of seminar topics defined by the sales strategies of the winery and learn from proven wine industry experts.”

The direct-to-consumer track will focus on increasing sales through brand marketing campaigns, new approaches for creating profitable events and wine clubs, and ways to enhance tasting room culture. Session topics include: using event and wine club metrics to engage and retain customers; aligning your tasting room experience with your brand; and building a cohesive and effective digital marketing campaign.

The three-tier system track provides best practices for selling through distributors. Session topics include: ways to identify your target audience to create a market sales strategy; how to assess market potential; how to prepare for successful product demonstrations and market visits; and how to foster supportive and profitable distributor relationships.

As the premiere networking event at the Symposium, the Oregon Wine Soirée will take place on Feb. 21 on the trade show floor after sessions conclude. The Soirée is an opportunity for attendees to eat, drink and mingle with speakers, sponsors and peers while enjoying wines from around the state. This event is included in the full Symposium ticket and is a celebration of the community’s hard work and shared passion for Oregon wines.
