In Addition to a Tasting Room the Picayune Cellars & Mercantile Features a Selection of Artisan Products from the United States and France

CALISTOGA, Calif. – October 6, 2016 – Picayune {pee-ka-ˈyün} Cellars is excited to announce the opening of the Picayune Cellars & Mercantile in downtown Calistoga. Located behind the Calistoga Depot at 1458 Lincoln Avenue, Suite 9, the Picayune Cellars & Mercantile is open Wednesday to Monday from 11am to 5pm (to 6pm on Friday and Saturday). Designed by Picayune’s founder and winemaker, Claire Weinkauf, Picayune Cellars & Mercantile includes a tasting room for Picayune’s acclaimed wines, and a mercantile store featuring artisan housewares, linens and food products from the United States and France.

Picayune Cellars

Guests to the Picayune Cellars & Mercantile may taste the winery’s trio of wines at the inviting tasting bar, or in the mercantile’s comfortable seating area. The current lineup features Picayune’s 2014 Napa Valley Padlock Red, 2014 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir and 2015 Sauvignon Blanc (Napa Valley and Lake County). The space also includes a music corner, where guests are invited to put on headphones to explore unique wine and music pairings for all three Picayune wines.

Within the mercantile section, French-born Weinkauf has gathered a curated selection of products from France and the United States, with an emphasis on small family businesses like Picayune. Select items include Jacquard-weaved kitchen towels, French knives, handmade Napa Valley jewelry, antique Indian trade blankets and delicious award-winning food products.

“For me, great wine is enhanced by music, food and the surroundings in which you experience it,” says Weinkauf. “We’ve tried to create a space that’s enticing to the senses, and that is also a bit of a hidden gem. We’re tucked away, so like our wines, you have to make a bit of an effort to find us.”
