Calistoga, Calif. (October 2016) – Castello di Amorosa harvested 30 tons of Pinot Noir from the Morning Dew Ranch in Anderson Valley on September 20. This is the first crop from this vineyard for the Castello. In November of 2015 Castello di Amorosa purchased Williams Selyem founder Burt Williams’ Morning Dew Ranch Vineyard, a 12 acre Pinot Noir vineyard just north of the town of Philo.

“It’s an honor to be crushing from this historic and prestigious vineyard,” says Brooks Painter, Director of Winemaking. “We feel like we’re harvesting history, and we’re delighted with the superb quality of fruit we’re seeing,” he adds. “The berries are bursting with textbook North Coast Pinot Noir aromas and flavors, and it will be a wonderful adventure to transform them into wine,” he continued.

The Morning Dew Ranch vineyard is divided into 9 blocks of Pinot Noir planted with DRC, 115, 777, Rochioli, 23 (mariafeld) and 828 clones.  The vineyard is farmed sustainably under the direction of Castello di Amorosa’s Vineyard Manager, David Bejar.

These grapes will become the first release of wine from this vineyard and will be released in 2018. The wine will be vineyard-designated. Castello di Amorosa has numerous other single vineyard-designated wines in its portfolio.

Castello di Amorosa’s presence in California’s renowned North Coast wine region encompasses 45 acres planted to Pinot Noir in vineyards located in a number of key American Viticultural Areas (AVAs). Castello di Amorosa owns and farms the 12-acre Pillow Road Vineyard in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley and a 12-acre vineyard in Boonville; the winery sources fruit from a 4-acre vineyard in the Sonoma Coast and a 5-acre vineyard in Los Carneros.
