To raise awareness of this new AVA, the Fountaingrove District Winegrowers Association is sponsoring Fountaingrove Day 2016 at Kick Ranch, Rincon Valley, Santa Rosa, CA, on August 20th, 11:00am to 5:00pm. Speakers, wine tasting, lunch and AVA excursions will be featured.
Karissa Kruse, the President of the Sonoma County Winegrape Commission, will discuss the benefits that sustainable vineyard and wineries bring to consumers. Timothy Milos, the winemaker for several award-winning wineries, including Hidden Ridge Vineyards and Viluko Vineyards, two Fountaingrove District wineries participating in Fountaingrove Day, will give a winemaker’s perspective on what makes the wines of Fountaingrove District unique. And Eric Stanley, the History Curator for the Museums of Sonoma County as well as a member of the Exhibitions, History and Collections Committee for the nascent Wineseum in Santa Rosa, will discuss the history of early winegrowing in Fountaingrove District, and will give us some insights into the significance our AVA name has for wine lovers and history buffs alike.
