Dia de la familia 2NAPA, CA – August 2, 2016 – It was a joyous day in downtown Napa as a record 2,000-plus Napa County farmworkers and their families attended the fifth annual “Día de la Familia” hosted by Napa Valley Grapegrowers’ (NVG) and the Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation on Sunday, July 31. This one of a kind annual street festival celebrates Napa Valley’s farmworkers and their families and the vital role they play in the community.

More than 60 community organizations took part in the festivities this year showcasing the extraordinary services and programs they provide for Napa’s farmworkers, their families, and the community at large. Mariachis serenaded the crowds as they enjoyed traditional food and beverage from four taco trucks. And the afternoon brought colorful performances by Ballet Folklorico Xochiquetzal and Danza Mexica Nanahuatzin, along with face painting, arts and crafts and raffles.

Arnulfo Solorio of Silverado Farming Company and a Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation Board Member commented on the significance of the event. “This event was formed not only to celebrate all that Napa Valley’s farmworkers do for our industry, but also as a way to encourage their involvement in our community as a whole. This year has brought the largest attendance we’ve seen since we created Día de la Familia five years ago. We are thrilled to see such an amazing turnout and the wonderful momentum it has gained.”
