David L. Ransom Named East Coast Editor of The Tasting Panel, The SOMM Journal and The Clever Root


David RansomJuly 26, 2016 (Los Angeles) – M Dash Publishing is pleased to announce it has named veteran wine and spirits journalist and radio host David L. Ransom as its East Coast Editor for The Tasting Panel Magazine (tastingpanelmag.com), The SOMM Journal (sommjournal.com) and The Clever Root (thecleverroot.com).

In addition to uncovering the trends and the biggest stories coming out of the East Coast, Ransom will pen a monthly column for The Tasting Panel Magazine. Titled “The Ransom Note,” the column will focus on the people, the products and the news shaping the exciting beverage and restaurant world along the Eastern Seaboard.

“David brings a wealth of knowledge and a keen ability to ferret out the next big thing in the ever-changing food-and-beverage landscape,” says Publisher and Editorial Director, Meridith May of The SOMM Journal, The Tasting Panel Magazine and The Clever Root. “Marrying trend hunting with engaging writing is a true art, one that David has long mastered. Ransom is also co-host of the top-rated national radio show The Connected Table LIVE! The show is broadcast live weekly on W4CY Radio and iHeart Radio and features interviews with industry movers and shakers from food, wine, spirits, and travel.

A Board Member of the prestigious Wine Media Guild, David is a regular speaker and panel judge for wine and spirits events, and served as Wine Director for the James Beard Awards from 2003-2006.

A lifelong member of the industry, David’s start in wine came as co-founder of New York State’s legendary Rivendell Winery, now sold, which he ran with his family for many years. David got his start as a writer with his signature column, “Rocks Stars,” profiling luminaries in the spirits industry for Inside F&B.

David and his wife, author Melanie Young, currently reside in New York’s beautiful Hudson Valley with their dog, Sazerac.
