González Byass USA Continues to Grow Award-Winning Champagne in the US Market

Gonzalez ByassSan Francisco, CA, July 6, 2016 — Champagne Palmer, a renowned winery producing award-winning Champagne in the Montagne de Reims region, has expanded its distribution within the US Market. After bringing Champagne Palmer to the East Coast in September of 2015, González Byass USA is taking these high quality wines to the West Coast.

Founded in 1947 by a group of seven growers in Avize, Champagne Palmer produces wines that are the best expression of the Montagne de Reims terroir. The company uses a non-interventionist philosophy whereby the environment is the primary caretaker of the vineyards, which boast an ideal combination of clay-rich soils, southern sun exposure and cool climate. The success of Champagne Palmer lies not only within the region and winemaking techniques, but also through the extensive aging of the wines ‘sur pointe,’ with manual disgorging in the champenoise method.

“We are thrilled to be expanding our reach in the US market,” explains Raymond Ringeval, Champagne Palmer’s Export Director. “After great and continued success on the East Coast with Champagne Palmer, we believe the best next step is reaching the West Coast market with a specific focus on California, Washington and Nevada.”

Champagne Palmer introduces four different wines from their portfolio to the U.S., each of which is distinctive due to the diversity of land and unique vinification processes: the Palmer Brut Reserve (SRP:$49), which is a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier; the Palmer Rose Reserve (SRP: $65), has the same blend of grapes as the Brut Reserve, with a small portion of the red wine component vinified in oak barrels; the Palmer Blanc de Blancs (SRP: $79) is made of Chardonnay from two of the top Crus in Montagne de Reims; the Amzone de Palmer (SRP: $140) is an equal blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir Reserve that is aged for 12 years on lees and hand riddled.

All four of the Champagne Palmer wines are currently available on the West Coast. Please contact Christopher Canale-Parola (ccanaleparola@gonzalezbyass.es) of Gonzalez Byass USA, for any Trade inquiries.

About Champagne Palmer
In 1947, Champagne Palmer was founded by a group of seven growers who wanted to produce wines made exclusively from grapes grown on the Premier and Grand Cru-designated land of the Montagne de Reims. With estates in Villers-Marmery and Trepail, Champange Palmer’s vineyards have an ideal combination of clay-rich soils, southern sun exposure, and cool climate. Palmer has adhered to traditional techniques that other houses had since forgone with secondary fermentation in all bottles, extensive aging of the wines sur point, and manual disgorging. Though Palmer has grown to incorporate over 300 growers, they have upheld a high standard of quality by maintaining an incredible attention to detail — from the growing and selection of the grapes (still from the Montagne de Reims and the Cote des Blancs) through the aging of the wines.
