Central Iowa Chefs and Wineries Combine Flavors for the Ninth Annual Event

SWINE bottles_1May 16, 2016  (Ankeny, IA) – SWINE Festival returns by popular demand to the newly renovated Iowa Culinary Institute June 4th on DMACC’s Ankeny campus.  After a year off, Iowa chefs and wineries return to offer the perfect pairing of wine and pork.

The ninth annual gathering of pork and wine lovers will feature samples of gourmet pork prepared by talented Iowa chefs, wine sampling from wineries across the state, and a limited selection of beer from popular Ankeny-based microbreweries Firetrucker and New American.

Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits will be pouring and selling several unique wines from their expansive selection of wines from around the world.  This gives guests the opportunity to compare and contrast Iowa wines to their counterparts from other regions. The 2016 lineup of Iowa wineries includes:

  • Fireside Winery
  • Grape Escape Winery
  • Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits
  • Jasper Winery
  • La Vida Loca Winery
  • Madison County Winery

SWINE Festival is held adjacent to the lake on DMACC’s beautiful Ankeny campus. Trio Aceto will be performing live music with a combination of classic, contemporary and original songs.  This talented group will provide an array of acoustic and electric favorites to create the perfect setting for a relaxed afternoon of sampling in this park-like setting.

Tickets to the event are $40 in advance and $45 the day of.  Admission allows guests one bottle of wine of their choice from participating wineries, a commemorative wine glass, unlimited wine and pork samples and live music. Chocolate, cheese and gelato will also be featured.

Where:  DMACC’s Ankeny Campus by the lake – 2006 S. Ankeny Blvd.  – Ankeny, IA
Ticket Information:  Advanced tickets are available at www.tikly.co or at Des Moines Area Hy-Vee stores without fees. Attendance will be limited to 2,000 guests.  If tickets remain available the day of the event they will be sold at the gate for $45.

Swine Festival is a rain or shine event and will move inside DMACC’s newly expanded building #7 (immediately adjacent to the event grounds) in the case of inclement weather.
