April 7, 2016, Gaston, Oregon – The Campbell family, Willamette Valley farmers for five generations including over 40 years tending vines, announces the launch of Pike Road Wines in select markets nationwide. Pike Road debuts with two wines from the Willamette Valley appellation: French oak barrel-aged Pinot Noir ($19 SRP) and stainless steel fermented Pinot Gris ($15 SRP). Pike Road Wines will be a sister brand to Elk Cove Vineyards founded by Pat and Joe Campbell in 1974.
According to longtime Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Shirley Brooks, “We created Pike Road to bring wine lovers unbeatable value in Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. The idea for Pike Road has been in the works for some time now. We have been acquiring vineyard sites for the last twenty years for a few reasons: to position Elk Cove to be 100% estate grown; to provide sourcing for Pike Road; and finally, because the Campbells are farmers at heart and enjoy establishing new vineyards.”
Pike Road Wines are hand-picked and sourced from Campbell family vineyard sites plus smaller lots from long-term relationships with family farms such as Shea, Fairsing and Olenik. The name, Pike Road, is an actual road that winds through the lowland farms of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA and out to the forests of the Coast Range. It is one of the more picturesque drives in the Willamette Valley, home to orchards, dairy farms and wheat fields. For the Campbell family, Pike Road symbolizes the spirit of farming in Oregon.
