Ridgeview Estate WineryLAS COLINAS, TEXAS, March 25, 2016 – Ridgeview Estate, the first and largest exporter of English sparkling wine to the USA, is delighted to announce that last week the judges at the 2016 TEXSOM International Wine Competition granted all five of Ridgeview’s entries with gold, silver or bronze medals.

With 67 judges, 29 Sommelier Retreat members, 86 team members, and nearly 3,200 entries, TEXSOM encompasses the breadth of the wine world at the Awards to execute the blind tasting and awarding of medals. According to the Awards’ official media partner, Texas Monthly, the “TEXSOM International Wine Awards 2016 was more diverse and international than any previous year. The Awards garnered almost 3,200 entries representing 25 countries and 25 US states.”

This year for the first time, the judging committee evaluated five entries from Ridgeview Estate, located near the south coast of England. All five were awarded medals as follows:

  • Ridgeview Rosé de Noirs 2010 – Gold
  • Ridgeview Blanc de Blancs 2013 – Silver
  • Ridgeview Blanc de Noirs 2013 – Bronze
  • Ridgeview Bloomsbury 2013 – Bronze
  • Ridgeview Cavendish 2013 – Bronze

Ridgeview Estate has exported its wines to the USA for only a few years but is currently benefiting from a rapid USA export expansion plan, in concert with the English wine industry’s broader pursuit of export markets as the category grows. As Ridgeview CEO Tamara Roberts noted, “to achieve this level of recognition from the USA’s preeminent professional wine competition developed by and for the sommelier trade is a testament to the dedication of our team and also to the strides being made in the English wine industry more broadly. These medals represent our ongoing commitment to providing superior quality English sparkling wines to US wine enthusiasts.”
