QuerciabellaMILAN (Italy), 10 March 2016 – A mutual commitment to animal rights advocacy, along with Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni’s broad spectrum of global business interests, bring together the owner of Tuscan winery Querciabella and Carlo Muzzarelli, founder and CEO of WeRISK Srl – through reciprocal advisory role appointments which will draw on the experience and expertise of both individuals.

In the wake of the announced departure of board member and CFO Marino Di Pietro in late 2015, Querciabella’s Board of Directors recognized both the need and opportunity to make a strategic appointment to its body of advisors. This move was regarded timely given encouraging data on Querciabella’s performance in recent years, which has steadily outpaced trade forecasts in numerous fine wine markets, including Italy. Notwithstanding a climate of uncertainty, Società Agricola Querciabella SpA achieved an average of 8.0% overall annual revenue growth in the period between 2011 and 2015.

With growth comes the need for better opportunity management and analysis.

A world-renown expert in risk management, Muzzarelli brings highly specialized know-how to Querciabella. He will offer governance support in matters relating to strategic decision-making, quality control and the assessment of business development opportunities. Other areas which merit his attention include continued revenue growth, cost reduction and supply chain relations.

Always the visionary and trailblazer – accustomed to moving against the tide of convention in defense of his principles – Cossia Castiglioni views this appointment as an opportunity for further advances concerning environmental stewardship, distribution optimization and brand development at Querciabella. Concurrently, he has been appointed Honorary Chairman to WeRISK’s own advisory board.

“It’s an honor to associate a respected name like that of Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni with our firm,” says Muzzarelli. “His valuable perspective will provide WeRISK access to the broadest and most current insight into the global market trends most deserving of our efforts and attention.” According to Muzzarelli, diversification is a key objective, making the affiliation with Cossia Castiglioni – whose business network also spans international venture capital, private equity, M&A, fine art advisory, technology, plant-based start-ups and impact investing – a decisive turning point for WeRISK.

As niche enterprises with a vocation for disrupting the status quo in their respective fields, both Querciabella and WeRISK aim for profound and lasting cultural change in the way business is done. A partnership of this kind will certainly serve as an informative case study on how and why today’s most innovative companies should explore collaborative relationships.
